PC-Horse graphics give you a rapid analysis of the contribution of each feed to the total provision of every nutrient in the ration.

Provide a better service to your clients! Send reports to your horse owners at regular intervals! PC-Horse allows you to mail most reports directly from the program.
You may add your logo to the contact information you use to ”brand” your advice in the Consultant version of PC-Horse
Use the calendar function to enter (and remember) dates for mating and parturition. You may also enter the date when your lactating mare was re-bred.
Enter a tick in the tick-box to show that your horse is more than usually active. PC-Horse will then increase the requirement for energy by 10%
You may save time by working with ”model horses” in the Professional and Consultant versions. Create the horse types that you use often, and activate them when you talk to a customer.
In the grazing season PC-Horse adjusts the estimated intake of pasture based on the quality of the pasture and on the time spent grazing.
A help function assists you in calculating body weight (kg) from chest girth (cm) - and vice versa.

Remember that horses that go out in the cold require more feed to maintain body heat. The most effective solution is to provide additional forage during cold periods.
PC-Horse will warn you and provide suggestions when your ration is deficient of too high in one or more nutrients. Tolerance levels are already built into the program.
You may provide feed prices both at the horse level (i.e. if you have different feed prices for different horses) or identical prices for all horses in the stable.

All previous reports issued on a horse or a stable can easily be retrieved in the stables archive
Are you nervous about trying a new feed brand? With one or two clicks PC-Horse allows you to compare nutrient contents among a set of feeds.

PC-Horse will calculate feed requirements for each stable (per day, week and month) to help in your procurement of feeds.
You will always know when the Ca/P or Zn/Cu-quota is correct when you formulate a diet in PC-Horse.

PC-Horse enables you to customise feed lists. You can copy one or more feeds between feed lists, and copy across all feeds in a brand in a single operation.
A useful tip if you are interested in planning feeding costs is to make several feed lists with different feed prices for different purposes (i.e. on a per bag or wholesale basis etc).

Use the speed buttons on the ”horse diary” page to enter the latest information on the ration and other horse parameters.
In the Consultant version you may select the nutrients which will be shown on the screen or included in the written reports.

National feed list

PC-Horse comes with two feed lists - the Guaranteed feed list and the National feed list. You will find them on the top of the tree-view on the main screen.

Guaranteed feed list:
This is a feed list made for each country. In the UK the list is named UK Guaranteed feeds. Several feed companies have chosen to cooperate with PC-Horse to support your work. Feeds from these companies are pre-defined in PC-Horse when you download it from the web. Our experts have checked that the nutrient analyses are in line with those presented in the product sheets from the companies, and expressed in the national units relevant to the country where the program is used. The various national authorities require feed producers to comply with the rules and regulations formulated centrally by the EU. Feed companies are responsible for the declaration of nutrient contents. PC-Horse cannot take responsibility for errors in the declarations of feed companies.

National feed list:
This is a feed list containing brand- and product-names for a considerable proportion of the feeds marketed in the country. For the UK the feed list is named "UK_feeds". The national feed list provides you with an overview of feeds and nutrition supplements which help you search for alternative feeds or supplements for your horse or stable. Please note that all feeds that have chosen not to participate in the Guaranteed feed list will lack information on nutrient content. You will have to obtain this and enter the nutrients into PC-Horse in the form of "Owner-defined feeds". You have to be careful to provide correct values from the producer.

New and updated feed lists:
Feed lists will be updated by the update centre in PC-Horse when new feeds are introduced by our collaborating feed companies, or as and when market demand requires it.

Calculations of energy and protein:
Some feed constituents, such as energy and protein, may be analysed and expressed differently by different feed producers. Where the units for nutrients provided are the same, differences in analytical methodology may create major errors in the calculations performed by PC-Horse. One notable example is the expression of protein content as "crude protein" or "digestible crude protein". If requirements are given as digestible crude protein (Scandinavia) and feed protein is expressed as crude protein (UK, USA), severe under-supply of protein will result. It is therefore extremely important to be sure about the basis for expressing nutrient concentrations when transporting feeds across borders, even within Europe. The "Global" version of PC-Horse will perform these adjustments safely for feeds from different countries.

Declaration of minerals and vitamines:
According to many national authorities, trace minerals must be declared as "added per kilo feed". In such cases, the contents of nutrients in the natural feed ingredients are not known, and a calculation for the deficit of a mineral or a vitamin may therefore in special cases be erroneous.
